Education talk and kids performance

On April 12 2022 I(Margot) spoke to a group of young college students about disability and the public education system. We discussed Individual Education Plans(IEPs) proper accommodations, ableism and Cerebral Palsy. I spoke about how Cerebral Palsy was actually classified as a developmental disability but Cerebral Palsy is an injury like a stroke, rather than genetic as many other developmental disabilities are. Of course Crip Video Productions was mentioned as the talk went into disability representation and movies. In other news Umbrella Children's Theater where I'm(Margot) vice president is having it's Spring performance this weekend! This performance includes actors with disabilities! Share with others in the Santa Fe New Mexico area! UCTP presents Coyote the Trickster WHAT: Coyote the Trickster by David J. Hudson, adapted by Rebecca Morgan and JoJo Sena de Tarnoff, and directed by Miss Tarnoff. Ranging in age from 6 to 10 years old, child #actors will be performing alongside adult instructors. Coyote the Trickster is a collection of stories from the Hopi, #Navajo, and Pima Native American tribes of the Southwest. Some teach us about right and wrong, and some teach us about #traditions. Come have fun in the animal kingdom as our mischievous friend, Coyote, gets his skin, holds up the mesa, steals the stars…and more! UCTP was founded in 1988 as Southwest Children’s Theatre Productions by Rebecca Morgan and Celeste Allerton. The two companies combined have equipped thousands of Northern New Mexico children with skills that serve them as performers and human beings today, and prepare them for challenges faced later in life. This is the first Umbrella Children’s Theatre Productions season since the fall of 2019. Coyote the Trickster opens Friday, April 22nd at 7:00 p.m., and plays on Saturday, April 23rd at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 24th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $5 for kids. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Reservations may be made by calling 505-424-1601, and tickets can be paid for at the door by cash, check, or credit card. This project is made possible in part by New Mexico Arts and the Dept. of Cultural Affairs, the Santa Fe Community Foundation, and the LANL Foundation.
