Happy ADA 36th anniversary!

Today, Crip Video Productions celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! The ADA is a landmark civil rights law that ensures full participation and equal access for people with disabilities. Because of the ADA and the fierce advocates who fought for its passage, our everyday environments have been transformed to make the world more accessible, allowing for curb cuts, automatic doors, accessible restrooms, accessible colleges, and accessible workplaces. Crip Video Productions would literally not exist without the ADA. Disability culture and pride is also disability media—like Netflix's Crip Camp, which examines our place as disabled people in the American story, and smaller independent companies like our own Crip Video Productions and documentaries like What The Body Believes, directed by Mary Lynn Navarro. It extends to musicians like Dylan Rothbein, who embodies the pride of our community, along with publications like "Anatomy of how the body works together" by Margot Cole (read it here: https://medium.com/@dylanrothbein/anatomy-of-how-the-body-works-together-guest-post-by-margot-d529fe3cf424). Today, we honor the legacy of the disability rights movement, the activists who fought for our freedoms, and the ongoing work to create a fully accessible world. Happy Disability Pride Month!
